The South Downs Sustainable Development Fund

Please note: This fund is not run by Action in rural Sussex, please use the contact details at the bottom of this page if you are interested in finding out further information about this grant scheme

The government has established a Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) for each of the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England.

The South Downs Joint Committee looks after the East Hampshire and Sussex Downs AONBs (together forming the South Downs) and has been allocated a fund of £120,000 for 2008/9.

The purpose of the SDF is to provide financial support in the development of practical projects that enhance and conserve the special environment whilst developing the local communities and economy. Applications are welcomed from organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals. Grants can range from £500 to £25,000.
