Policy: Development & Analysis
Rural Proofing
Action in rural Sussex undertakes an important role by ensuring that the needs of rural communities across Sussex are fully incorporated into key strategic documents and their associated delivery mechanisms. It does this by working with public-sector organisations and other stakeholders so that the needs of rural communities are fully understood and so that they are not unfairly affected by any particular policies or delivery mechanisms.
The process of 'rural proofing' policies and strategies is undertaken independently by Action in rural Sussex itself and by the East Sussex and West Sussex Rural Partnerships. This process ensures that 'rural' is considered in the development, delivery and maintenance of services. Advice is provided on the gathering and interpretation of evidence, the methods and locations of delivery and on monitoring and evaluation.
Rural Proofing your policies
Action in rural Sussex does offer a rural proofing service to public and voluntary sector organisations in order to ensure that their policies and activities do not unfairly disadvantage those living in rural communities.
