Policy: Development & Analysis
Action in rural Sussex undertakes an important role in ensuring that the needs of rural communities across Sussex are fully incorporated into key strategic documents and their delivery mechanisms.
The process of 'rural proofing' policies and strategies is undertaken both by Action in rural Sussex itself, as well as by the East Sussex Rural Partnership and the West Sussex Rural Partnership. The process of 'rural proofing' ensures that 'rural' is considered in the development, delivery and maintenance of services.
Key strategic documents which have recently, or are currently being fed into from a rural perspective include:

Action in rural Sussex Policy Positions
In order to clarify its position with regard to various themes, Action in rural Sussex is developing a series of Policy Statements in 2009/10. These will outline the current scenario within Sussex with regard to that particular issue and how Action in rural Sussex is working with rural residents to influence change in this area.
These currently include:

- Local Food Links
- Rural Broadband
During 2009/10 AirS will actively engage on several key rural issues. Those already identified include:-
- Rural Post Office Network and Village Shops
- Access to Services in rural Sussex
- Rural Health Provision
- Support for Rural Community Buildings (Village Halls)
- Rural Transport Provision
