| Line Guide wins National Award
This year’s Community Rail Award for the Best Marketing Publication has been awarded to the Uckfield and East Grinstead line guide produced by the Sussex Community Rail Partnership. The guide outlines the features of each individual station and promotes each of the settlements along the lines.
Sam Bryant, Development Officer for the lines has worked hard to ensure that the guide has been easily available on trains, at stations and tourist outlets in London and throughout the area accepted the Award during a Presentation Ceremony at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Friday 28th September, accompanied by Jan Chaudhry, Commercial Director of train operator, Southern. The guide has been produced by a partnership of authorities including West Sussex County Council, Action in rural Sussex, Tandridge District Council, the East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership and Southern. The award is the culmination of a year of tremendous partnership working which has seen a huge increase in use of the train services following the introduction of new trains a year earlier.
In addition, the Partnership was short-listed for Outstanding Volunteer contribution in Tim Sparrow, Chairman of the Community Rail Partnership, and Best Station Adoption Group – Winchelsea Station.
