Lewes Rapid Action Planning project

This project will seek to use innovative community planning techniques to produce local community action plans and take forward their associated actions. The involvement of volunteers at a local level will be key, and AirS will provide advice, guidance and training to local activists to release, build on and develop local people’s skills for this purpose.

The project will start by finalising the communities to be involved, taking into account the views of the LSP, RVRC, willingness on behalf of the communities themselves and evidence from current scoping of interest.

A period of publicity and a drawing together of community action groups for the first phase, which will involve the planning, development and delivery of community consultation events and exercises, which will link closely with the Community Strategy, will follow this.

Following the consultation, the second phase will involve identifying community leaders to act as champions, the completion of the local level action plan and its integration into the work of South Downs Council for Voluntary Services (SDCVS) development worker, Rural Voices Rural Choices (RVRC), the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) and the taking forward of actions.

Throughout both phases AirS will provide community development support, training and written resource materials. AirS will also provide opportunities for local volunteers involved with both phases to meet together to discuss shared issues and concerns and the steer the work of the project to meet local needs. It is envisaged that the work will be staggered with communities completing various elements of the project at different times.
