Village Shops Business Support

Action in rural Sussex through its Village Shops Support Officer provides business support and advice to all village shops in East and West Sussex. This is a programme that has financial support from the District Councils and SEEDA. Individuals initiatives within the programme also have support from other sources such as the Countryside Agency and business support programmes operated locally.

The emphasis of the work is to develop viable and attractive retail businesses in each village in Sussex through detailed advice, networking, troubleshooting and the development of local suppliers. Where village shops are threatened with closure Action in rural Sussex will also provide detailed assistance to the community trying to seek a solution to the threat of closure. Action in rural Sussex has helped to develop a number of successful community shops within both counties and further information is available on request.
