Chiara Vagnarelli: Village Agent
Chiara was born and brought up in a small village in Snowdonia in North Wales in the 1960s. A fluent Welsh speaker, she worked on a local farm, in the tourist industry and retail, before moving to Staffordshire to study a B.Ed. in Youth and Community Work.
On qualifying Chiara worked as a youth and community development worker in inner city Liverpool and Manchester. She has also lived in Greece and Portugal volunteering on conservation projects.
Moving to Sussex in 2000, Chaira continued to work in community development. She joined Action in rural Sussex in 2015 as a Village Agent, where she has enjoyed returning to working in rural communities.
The village that Chiara was brought up in Snowdonia has declined over the years, losing its village shop, post office, pub and garage, as well as suffering from poor transport links. So ensuring that villages in Wealden and Lewes and District continue to thrive and be sustainable is something that she is very passionate about.
Chiara is also a keen gardener and bird-watcher, and have a small business as a ceramic artist.
