I’ve had a varied career including interpreting and translating, sales and marketing, training, teaching and mediating. I have set up and/or run a variety of projects both commercially and in the not for profit sector. I have worked in frontline support roles with children, young people and families since 2005, and am fascinated by people of all ages and what motivates them. I was a co-founder of Time 2 Talk in East Sussex: a mediation service for young people and parents, and this was where my interest in family functioning began; asking a good question at the right time can unlock entrenched situations and reopen understanding and communication.
As a Connexions Intensive Advisor, I supported young people at risk of exclusion to remain in education, employment and training and maintain successful relationships. After developing a family support project in West Sussex, I’ve been team leader at COPES since 2013, and relish the challenge of providing a tailored support service in rural areas, working with schools and local families to meet their needs as closely as possible. One of my mantras is ‘The Question is the Work’, in helping people to identify the heart of the issue in order to address it appropriately.
