AirS commits to East Sussex partnership initiative – August 2019

Action in rural Sussex is one of 22 organisations contributing to ‘Partnership Plus’, an initiative focused at exploring how public sector organisations and the voluntary sector in East Sussex can make best use of links, knowledge and resources to benefit communities and individuals.

As Action in rural Sussex’s Chief Executive Petrina Mayson made clear, “It is crucial that we have a shared understanding of the issues affecting communities and individuals across the county, working efficiently and collaboratively to achieve meaningful outcomes. We look forward to working with others to progress this over the coming months and to making a greater difference to local lives”.

The group, which is made up primarily of statutory and voluntary sector organisations and representatives, met for the second time in June and agreed to  establish four working groups, each with a specific task.

These are:

  1. To completely review The Compact which guides how the sectors interact
  2. To improve Resourcing, both by  attracting new funding and by making better use of existing resources
  3. To undertake Workforce Development, in order to makes sure staff from all sectors are more aware of each others’ contribution and work more closely together. This will be done through induction, secondment, shadowing and briefings
  4. To examine information on help and support, referral pathways and access routes to determine what works and what could be improved

The third meeting of Partnership Plus in the Autumn will check the progress of the working groups, and to make the necessary decisions to take this vital work forward.

“Supporting rural communities in Sussex to be vibrant and diverse places in which to live and work.”
