Chances for Change in Jarvis Brook

Residents from all over Jarvis Brook were invited to the Social Club last Tuesday for a coffee and chat, organised by Action in rural Sussex in conjunction with the Community Association as part of the Chances for Change programme currently being delivered in East Sussex.

The aim of the session was to find out what sort of healthy activities people would like to get involved in. The most popular included those which had a beneficial outcome on their local environment, whilst also brought about health benefits to the participants, this included litter picking and rubbish clearing. Others focused on purely health based activities such as walking, while a few opted for New Age Curling and Boccia. Everyone tucked into the delicious range of healthy snacks provided by Sally from Sussex Community Development Association whilst finding out more about the plans for a new Community Hub.

PCSO Ruth Parnell and local Councillor Elizabeth Fermor both said it was a great opportunity for them to talk to residents about local activities and to learn more about people’s opinions and needs. Rev Alan brought along members of the St Michaels and All Angels church community and suggested that future activities could be run together – this would help to make a sizable group and to bring people together from different areas of the community.
