Mid Sussex Community Buildings Strategy Workshop – Mid Sussex County Council

Mid Sussex District Council would like to invite you to a workshop to discuss the 
Future of Community Buildings in Mid Sussex 

When: Thursday 6th September from 09.30 to 12.30
Where: Mid Sussex District Council’s Council Chamber, Oaklands, Oaklands Road, Haywards Heath RH16 1SS

Introduction
Mid Sussex District Council have commissioned Land Use Consultants (LUC) to prepare a community buildings strategy, the draft aims of which are:

a. To ensure all residents have access to community buildings to enable them to deliver and participate in a range of social, recreational and cultural activities that deliver positive community outcomes.

b. To support communities, Town and Parish Councils and Voluntary and Community Sector organisations to develop new, and improve existing facilities to meet local needs.

c.To develop sustainable, high quality, multi-purpose community hubs, with modern technology and flexible spaces that are suitable for a wide range of activities and services.

Purpose of workshop
In order to gain the views of those involved in providing, managing and improving community buildings in the district, they are inviting you to a stakeholder workshop where they will discuss Community Building provision in Mid Sussex and how this strategy can help deal with current and future challenges and make the most of the opportunities.

Agenda

  • Introduction by Councillor Norman Webster (Cabinet Member for Community)

  • Discussion: ‘Aims of the strategy: what are the priorities for community buildings in Mid Sussex?’

  • Discussion: ‘How can community facilities meet the demands of the community and what how can they adapt to do so in future?’

  • Discussion: ‘How can Mid Sussex District Council and partners help to deliver the aims of the strategy?’

  • Data review: Review of mapping and figures already prepared – filling in the gaps

  • Closing remarks
