Evidencing Need Workshop – Mid Sussex Rural Links

At the September meeting of the Mid Sussex Rural Links network run by AirS, a workshop was delivered on behalf of the District Council to help approximately 20 representatives from local rural communities tackle the issue of gathering and using evidence.

It became clear through the session that this is a challenging and time-consuming task for many volunteers and voluntary organisations, so the workshop focused on key areas around the role of evidence in guiding service provision and bidding for funding, how to access and collect it from primary and secondary sources, basic data interpretation, and data protection and safeguarding.

The breakout sessions gave attendees the chance to discuss any specific concerns or difficulties in more detail, with exercises on how to make evidence more effective and how to ask the right questions when developing or engaging with evidence.
