Kate McAleenan – Community Buildings Advisor

Kate joins AirS as a Community Buildings Advisor with over 20 years’ experience across the Civil Service, NHS England, consultancy, business, and the voluntary sector. She has a strong background in strategy, project leadership, community engagement, and communications.

Kate is passionate about helping communities thrive and believes in the power of local spaces to bring people together and support wellbeing. As Chair of a busy, community-run hall in Brighton, she understands both the rewards and challenges of running a vibrant community venue.

From a professional and voluntary perspective, she brings hands-on experience in everything from managing policies and comms to organising local events and supporting fundraising and volunteers. Kate enjoys finding creative ways to connect with people and share what community spaces can offer. She’s excited to explore Sussex, meet new people, and support local halls to stay vital, welcoming and inclusive.

In her spare time, Kate enjoys Brighton’s music and comedy scene, countryside walks with her family and dog, and volunteering locally.

“Supporting rural communities in Sussex to be vibrant and diverse places in which to live and work.”
