Robert has spent most of his life in rural East Anglia. Following a few years as a trainee building surveyor he branched out into organizing international scientific conferences for the Ministry of Defence before landing on his feet in the ACRE network. He stepped in to help with some Village Halls advice in 2005 and never looked back. He is passionate about all aspects of community buildings, has served on his own village hall committee and helped other charities with training, divestment, setting up as a CIO and successful fundraising.

He has been a trustee and volunteer with a sailing charity for ten years and has recently qualified to teach powerboating. In his free time, he plays music badly with several groups and enjoys messing around with old cars.

Robert joined Action in rural Sussex in January 2022

“Supporting rural communities in Sussex to be vibrant and diverse places in which to live and work.”
