Westbourne Neighbourhood Plan Event – Questionnaire Response & Results

On Saturday 4th October, the Westbourne Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group  invited local residents to attend a public meeting where they could find out the results of the household survey which was conducted during May and June of 2014.

Richard Hitchcock opened the meeting, by welcoming everyone, and then introduced Rowena Tyler from Action in rural Sussex.  Although Westbourne Group has been ‘going it alone’ as much as possible, they had invited AirS in January 2014 to help start the process, and today was another chance to hear from Rowena about Neighbourhood Planning generally,  and specifically, the work of the Steering Group and Task Groups to date.

The Household Survey had produced a response of 36.7% , and included some very informative answers. After the presentation from Rowena, she handed over to John Hernon, who gave more detail about the responses to the survey, and how these would help to inform the policy writing.

A brief question and answer session was followed by refreshments, when residents were able to visit the task groups stands and ask more about their work.  Action in rural Sussex is currently supporting 22 parishes in Sussex and Surrey, and usually this comprises a full service officer from inception through to submission of the Neighbourhood Plan for Independent Examination.

However, if, as in the case of Westbourne, a parish would like AirS support for a specific part of the process, such as engaging with the community, designing  a survey, or offering consultation techniques for younger or older people, we would be pleased to discuss the specific needs and give a quotation for the work.
