Sashka Dunlop – Family Outreach Worker
A qualified and experienced Play Therapist and parenting practitioner, I have been working with children and families for over 20 years in the voluntary sector, the local authority and schools. I have been a member of the COPES team for the past 10 years.
In my work with parents and families I draw on a variety of techniques including solutions focussed brief therapy, positive parenting, the parent- child game and activity based family work interventions. I aim to tailor my approach to the individual needs of each family.
I am an experienced group facilitator and have been delivering The Incredible Years parenting program for 17 years and have also facilitated self-esteem and friendship groups for children.
My work with children and young people is informed by my therapeutic training. I use a range of creative media and approaches in an effort to enable the child to untangle muddled feelings, make sense of their world and develop a clearer understanding of them self and others.
We all experience challenges in our lives, some greater than others. At these times we can benefit from having someone to help us think about things from a different perspective. During my career I have worked with many, many children and families facing all kinds of difficulties, supporting them to move towards a safer, happier place.
