Volunteer With Us

Lost Woods Programme

Supporting Woodland Conservation Groups. Ensuring groups can survive and thrive along with the woods they care for.

Volunteers. 33 volunteers from local groups or volunteering directly for Lost Woods have benefitted from engaging with the projects, sharing information and learning about woodlands.

Our Volunteer co-ordinator is managing enquiries that come in through the website and local magazines. The veteran tree planting volunteer program has been massively oversubscribed, so we are looking for similar opportunities for those who haven’t got a space, to keep those volunteers engaged.

Skill training Conservation for All. Students in need of additional support to find a career path that is suitable for them, have had a taster for various conservation tasks including bramble and sapling removal, brush clearance, coppicing and path creation. They have also met people working in the woodland sector. For some this will inspire them to choose this sector, whilst those who don’t choose it will still have a better understanding of the benefits of this form of conservation.

Networking for Nature

The Lost Woods AirS team have been engaging with various groups and communities to explore joint working opportunities and there have been 4 Networking sessions this period. Two Networking for Nature sessions for conservation, sustainability and wildlife groups were held, themed around recruiting and retaining volunteers with an attendance of 14. The other two sessions were for social prescribers, local nature CIC’s, conservation groups, church organisations, charity community workers, were held in Burgess Hill and Small Dole with an attendance of 12.
